Dear Peter: As I indicated to you on the telephone I have spent a considerable amount of time researching breeders of quality German Shepherd Dogs with a 5-6 hour drive. Having done so I have concluded that you offer exactly what we have been looking for. Your ethics, quality of dogs you breed, concern for the proper placement and a willingness to help educate us so that we can become the best possible owners that this puppy deserves is invaluable. Also, the fact that you do this for the love of the breed as opposed to earning a living means a lot not to mention the pricing structure. Pricing them so that they are affordable to the average family is another indicator of your character. From the research I’ve done so far it is obvious that you could charge considerably more for dogs of this quality.

Importers and Breeders of German Shepherd Puppies and Young Dogs 

Welcome to Banffy Haus German Shepherds.  We are importers and breeders of German Shepherds.  One of our kennel sites is in Florida, as is our office for importation of young dogs, which is also located in Florida (imports).  Our other Banffy Haus kennel is located in Alabama.  At both kennels we diligently apply the Banffy method of puppy development (which you can read on “Us” and then “the Banffy Method”.  Our goal is to place fine pedigreed German Shepherds with families to become their next legend, protector and companion.  This website has a wealth of information in our K-9 college as well as over 50 articles we have written on everything from breeding to training, for you to use.  It has been our pleasure to share our experience with you so that your experience will be a great one with these incredible animals. 

Importers:  Young Dogs: Started German Shepherds

Using our friends in Europe we are able to import amazing young German Shepherds for our family of clients.  We only work with a couple of top kennel partners in Europe, one which we have worked with for years, are trusted and respected within the field and are personal friends of ours for many years.   Many come back to us after 10, 15 years for their next dog.  Young dogs we consider to import for a client will have the following characteristics or requirements:

  1. Started in obedience, many also in protection.  Started means all the foundation is set.  They know how to learn and have already learned the basics of obedience.  We can provide even further training prior to ship if you so desire.
  2. 1-2.5 years old:  German Shepherds in Europe get their hip and elbows surveys at one year old.  We consider this a more accurate predictor of joint health than the OFA requirement of 2 years.  So every young German Shepherd we import must be at least 1 year old.  Also by this time most of the congenital problems have surfaced and we have a much better probability of knowing if a German Shepherd has any physiological problems by that time which lowers your risk substantially of buying a German Shepherd with issues.
  3. HD1/ED1 tops hips and elbows.  This is a requirement for every dog we place.
  4. 10 point vet check and heartworm test:  Heartworm Article
  5. Videos and pictures:  We will give you as many pictures and a couple of videos for you to see the dog moving and interacting as well as see the size and pigmentation and conformation.
  6. Full Pedigree analysis telling you about bloodlines and the highpoints of the dog in question
  7. Temperament analysis:  We and our partners do a thorough analysis of young dogs in terms of how well they interact with other animals, with humans, energy level, drive, courage, etc. and present you with the results so you can make and educated decision and we can assure a proper match.  We will ask you questions about your living situation, experience, family, etc in order to aid us in matching a dog to you situation.  At 1-2 years old, these imported German Shepherds are still fairly adolescent and easy to matriculate into a home.

Breeders:  German Shepherd Puppies

As said above, we have Kennels in both Florida and Alabama where we whelp and raise all our select world class litters, and where the dogs are part of the family.  We do not spare expense to make their and the puppies’ life with us a joy for them and to insure their safety and health above all.  Our females get top notch red carpet treatment during pregnancy, and each puppy is treated as individual and put through the Banffy Method of Puppy Development.  We only do one or two select litters per year.  Dr. Banfe has over 25 years experience breeding black and red German Shepherd puppies and insures the line breeding profile is top notch.  Ex Police Chief James Collins brings his K9 experience to the kennels.  They work together on every litter to insure their health and preparation for new homes.  As breeders, we do have also limited litters available of German Shepherd puppies from top notch parents either bred here in the US or imported bred to select studs in Europe.  Please refer to our philosophy and the Banffy Method for a description of our approach to puppies.  I think you will be impressed.

 Imports: SHIPPING AND PAPERWORK

We handle all the chore of arranging shipping and completing all the paperwork necessary for imports into the United States.  We stand with you through the entire process and try to make it an effortless and pleasant process.  We use professional freight forwarders who will ensure your dog is taken care of.  We will tell you up front above any cost associated with importation and will recommend a broker to clear customs.  We will also tell you up front about any other cost of importation.
